I ended up buying a pair after reading all the rave reviews. And after a couple runs in them I just don’t get it.

I am an older (upper 40’s) fairly new runner. But have put in over 2500 miles over the past couple years on over 20 different shoes across a broad range of categories (daily trainers, super trainers, super shoes, speed shoes and even some trail shoes) and manufacturers (adidas, NB, Nike, Saucony, ON, NNormal, …). And these are easily the worst shoes I own in terms of performance vs value.

My first run was particularly bad in that I experienced burning sensations in the outer portion of my forefoot on both feet. I did not experience this on the second run but still was not overly impressed with the performance vs price. And the burning sensation is something I never felt in any other running shoes, ever. I’ve read other reviewers say they need a break in period. Sorry, but all other modern shoes I’ve used don’t need a break in period. So suggesting one is needed is not acceptable.

In terms of shoes I use in a similar category (super trainer), I own and regularly run in two pairs of Endorphin Speed 3’s and there is no comparison. ES3 is hands down better in every way I can think of - and can often be found on discount for under $150. I also have a pair of NB SC trainer’s with over 200 miles on them, which are cheaper and much more enjoyable.

Even ASICS own NovaBlast 3, which I was able to pick up for less than $100 is a better shoe for me. Feels and performs similarly with the added bonuses that I’ve never felt any pain in them and were half the price.

And super shoes, forget about it - they blow these out of the water. Have done long runs and races in the VaporFly 3, Endorphin Pro 3 and adidas pro 3 and there is nothing I can say that is better about the Superblast vs these shoes. I understand these are technically in a “different category”, but for performance vs value comparison purposes it’s fair game. I got all those mentioned super shoes at discounts so they were about the same price as the Superblast or cheaper (even picked up my adidas pro 3 for under $150). Possibly the Superblast wins on durability? I just don’t have enough miles in any of these shoes to make that assessment. Although I can say I’m around 100 miles in my Endorphin Pro 3’s and they still look and feel like new.

There are just too many shoes out there that are at least as good or better at a much cheaper price. So do yourself a favor - save your money and get something else instead.

The Superblast definitely lived up to the hype. I found that the insole for my 7 was the same as the insole for my nimbus 25 7.5 and 7.5 in other brands, so would recommend sizing down by half a size. When I originally tried a 7.5 I found the heel uncomfortable and the ball of my foot wasn’t aligning correctly with the “trampoline” pattern underfoot and as a result didn’t feel good underfoot.

The upper is very comfortable and light. The tongue has adequate, well placed padding that aligns perfectly on my ankle and the outer sole has had no grip issues. My only critique is that the small areas of exposed FF Turbo foam are prone to picking up dirt and stones after most runs. The midsole is slightly firmer than expected, but broke in quite a bit over the first 30 miles and gives great response and energy return and feels great underfoot.

I have found the shoe most beneficial for tempo, threshold and long runs. The shoe can be used for easy runs, but I would prefer the Novablast or Nimbus for this purpose as the foam is slightly less firm underfoot and I haven’t found that the high energy return is utilised as well under these conditions. I also find myself more inclined to pick up the pace in the Superblast as it is too fun not too! I found it a challenge to keep my cadence high as the Superblast make me more inclined to run like a gazelle due to the amazing bounce and energy return.

Overall I highly recommend investing in the Superblast due to its amazing versatility and performance. I was very happy to finally make the decision to purchase it.

I only run on trails, California hilly dirt, dry and damp, fireroads and single-track with lots of climbing/ descending/ off chamber. My bodyweight is 155lbs, my mens 11 fits like the last was designed around my foot, always wear thin socks, running about 40-50 mpw. The main things about the shoe are weight, precise fit, grippy minimal outsole, long haull performance cushioning, rad tounge that prevents lace bite and doesn't migrate, and relative stability considering the stack. The forefoot: Out of the box new, for me, the forefoot is WAY TOO STIFF for trail running..... gently, I began manually flexing the forefoot to the midfoot zone (metatarsal to arch) and found that the foam was quite flexible after manually working it in. I can bend the shoes 180 degrees back on themselves now -- stiffness gone and the shoes are great climbers now. I like the micro treads much more than 4-5 mm knobs/treads found on most trail shoes. This shoe goes fast on flats or any angle. I think if you have a relatively dry trail run- ultra, 50k up to 250 miles, and you enjoy performance cushion, I would check these shoes out. This shoe and the Mag Max have basically made my other shoes work shoes or Goodwill shoes. Last but not least... I have 3 pairs of the Superblast 2, and I try to give the midsole 3-4 days between runs.

I have MANY running shoes but skipped the first Superblast despite all the hype and eagerly awaited this new version with the updates to the upper, midsole, and outsole. I have to say that the Superblast 2 has exceeded my expectations in every which way as it is so good at so many different types of runs while providing a fun, exciting, consistent, and reliable ride. It's better at faster paces than slow paces, but I find it fine for easy slow runs as well. It excels on the long runs as the ride is consistent from the first mile to the 20th mile. I can see why some are happy to run full marathons with this shoe.

The upper is very comfortable, breathable, and is TTS. The lockdown is secure. The midsole, to me, is very balanced although it can feel a little firm at times. The forefoot bounce is where the magic is at with this shoe. The feel and ride is consistent and adapts easily and quickly to pace changes. The base is quite wide to provide excellent stability, but due to the bulk, it isn't the most nimble shoe. Still, the light weight makes it great for tempo runs and even speed workouts.

I now have three pairs of the Superblast 2 already and I'll probably end up with more as new colorways are released. This is now my number one shoe that I'll use for the great majority of my runs. I'm 59yo, have been running almost 3 years now, and average 70~80 miles per week. I'm light (5-7 or 167cm and 125lbs or 57kg) and my PBs are 20:30 for 5k, 43:00 for 10K and 1:40 for HM. I'm planning to run my first FM sometime next year and the Superblast 2 will be my main shoe for the training. The Superblast 2 exceeded my expectations even with the hype and great anticipation and that says something. I mainly run for the pure enjoyment of running than preparing for races and chasing PBs. The Superblast 2 has taken that enjoyment to a whole new level for me. It's not only the Shoe of the Year for me, but the G.O.A.T. that I'm excited to lace up, and that's the highest complement I can give to a shoe.
