Great RUNNING SHOE!
Paulie· Обзор от  REI · 04 օգոստոսի, 2024 թ.
I am on my second pair of these Cloud surfers for use as RUNNING SHOES. I cannot believe how many reviewers use these for activities other than running then complain about them. I've worn my first pair for about a year now, I mostly trail run and wanted a shoe that had good cushion for road running. I also tried several different Sauconys and Hokas, nothing compared to the feel of these shoes for me. I even did back-to-back mile loops with these and Saucony guide 17 and ultra-cushion Topos, and it wasn't even close. These do make my runs feel like I'm floating. I've run a half marathon in these and I'm not sure I would run much longer than that I'm these Cloud surfers, but for anything between a mile and 13 miles these are perfect for me. I'm 61, 5"10' 165lbs, run typically 8-8:30 min mile pace but tempo work in the 6-7 min/mile.range and these feel plenty fast for those workouts. If you weigh over 200 lbs I could see perhaps these starting to feel too squishy, but for me the cushion/suspension on these is sublime, and in fact feels softer with lots of bounce than any of the ultra-cushion shoes I've tried recently, and these don't feel "over-cushioned" I will say I've tried these at CrossFit and for weight-bearing workouts they do have too much cushion and become a bit unstable (but these are running shoes not crossfit shoes! ON has other models that work better for weights and CrossFit type activities). There is a V2 they just came out with but I have not tried those yet. Also the only time either pair have ever "squeaked " was when they got wet. Once they dried it stopped. My guess is when water gets inside those cushion holes in the soles it allows a squeak when they compress and the oval opening flattens and bottoms out.
How to Get Rid of On Running Shoe Squeak
Nich· Обзор от  REI · 15 մայիսի, 2024 թ.
I've had several pairs of On Running shoes that started developing an annoying squeak after several months. I've found a trick to eliminating the squeak and wanted to share it with you all! The squeak seems to be coming from the 'holes' or 'spaces' in th sole, especially in the heal and mid-foot areas. The rubber/foam in those spaces will start to rub against itself with each step, which causes the squeak. The fix I found is to use skinny strips sand paper (I used 100grit, but 80 should also work):
1. Cut a skinny strip of sand paper that's 2x the width F the shoe.
2. fold sandpaper in half, lengthwise.
3. stick the sandpaper in each hole, from heal mid-foot so it sticks through to the other side. (Some of the holes may ot go all the way through the width of the shoe, but stick it in as far as it will go)
4. Rub (or floss) the sandpaper back and forth to scuff up the inside of each pod. I did it about 10 times for each hole. This works by roughing up the inside of each hole so that when it rubs together, not smooth enough to squeak. I've done this with my Cloud5 and CloudVista. It's been several weeks with no squeak. Hopefully it helps your squeaks
The Best

I’ve had these for a couple weeks now and I’d say they are the best running shoe I have ever owned. The cushioning provides a comfortable, supple run. They require absolutely no supplemental arch support, as using even low arch third-party insoles will result in an arch that is more pronounced than even the highest arched 3rd-party insoles. There is absolutely no heel slippage with these shoes, which is saying a lot as every single shoe I have ever owned had pronounced slippage (as far as I know, I do not possess unusual, mutant heels either). The only possible “downside” to these shoes is that it can be frustratingly difficult to tie them if used as-is out of the box: there is a large “tag” (for lack of a better term) that runs down the length of the tongue. I imagine its purpose is to help ensure a tight fit however it interferes with that purpose by being directly in the way of the very part of laces you would pull on to tighten them. I found that re-lacing the shoes, so that the criss-cross alternates between being above and below the tag eliminated this frustration.
Super comfortable, but squeaky :(

By far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn and being a high school and D1 track athlete, I've worn a lot of shoes. On definitely nailed it on getting these lightweight and comfortable. However, after a week of owning them they started squeaking. Unfortunately the squeaking started 2 days into a 3 week trip in Asia. Therefore, I Googled the concern and found that if you use a nail file to file the openings of the back 4 holes in the sole, it will solve the problem. I did this and it helps, but it is not a 100% fix as sometimes the filing works for a couple hours or couple days or longer. Perhaps On should add a nail file to the shoe box to address this problem. Hopefully On fixes it as I was unable to return the product as they were worn. Guessing if I were to get a new pair, they'd probably start squeaking in short time. Hopefully On fixes this problem as they are as comfortable as wearing slippers.
