In the Guardians of Ga'hoole series, author Kathryn Lasky credits many real-world people and events as inspirations (such as Winston Churchill and and Battle of Thermopylae). However, there are many other suspected real-world connections to characters and locations in the books.

Acclaimed filmmaker Zack Snyder makes his animation debut with the fantasy family adventure Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole based on the beloved Guardians of Ga'Hoole books by Kathryn Lasky.

Hagsfiends were dark creatures of nachtmagen that were also known as crowls: birds with features belonging to both crows and owls. They were able to wield the foul powers of nachtmagen, or evil magic, and were most formidable enemies to the noble and valiant owls of their time.

As it's over a decade old, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is not likely to receive a sequel.
