Can muons be stable?
A muon is relatively unstable, with a lifetime of only 2.2 microseconds before it decays by the weak force into an electron and two kinds of neutrinos. Because muons are charged, before decaying they lose energy by displacing electrons from atoms (ionization).

What makes muons unstable?
Muons and tau leptons are practically just heavy electrons, so they want to decay into an electron. There's no conservation rule that disallows this decay; charge is conserved, lepton number is conserved, baryon number is conserved, etc etc.
Is there an anti muon?
If the threshold is set at the right level then only muons and anti-muons should be detected as lighter particles such as electrons will not register. The decay paths for muons (𝜇−) and anti-muons (𝜇+) are shown here: 𝜇+ → 𝜈𝑒 + 𝜈̅𝜇 + 𝑒+.
What is the only stable lepton?
Thus electrons are stable and the most common charged lepton in the universe, whereas muons and taus can only be produced in high-energy collisions (such as those involving cosmic rays and those carried out in particle accelerators).
