Hidden Curriculum means a side effect of education, such as norms, values and beliefs in the classroom. Accordingly, Jean Anyon's, author of “Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work” claims that each and every social class has it's own very different way of teaching in schools.

The term “hidden curriculum” refers to an amorphous collection of “implicit academic, social, and cultural messages,” “unwritten rules and unspoken expectations,” and “unofficial norms, behaviours and values” of the dominant-culture context in which all teaching and learning is situated.

Jean Anyon was a towering scholar in education. She, along with a handful of others, laid the foundation for contemporary critical scholarship in the field and changed the way a generation of educational researchers viewed the relationship between poverty, inequality, and educational outcomes.

In critical theory, the hidden curriculum is considered more and more. The hidden curriculum includes messages that teachers, school structures, books, and other school supplies transfer to the child (Ellen, 2008).
