‘Let it be’: Londoners sick of Abbey Road tourists
The Abbey Road crosswalk gained landmark status after The Beatles immortalised it on their 1969 album cover, but residents of the North London neighbourhood are fed up of fans causing a traffic nightmare. FRANCE 24 reports.

On August 8, 1969, The Beatles, recording an album in Abbey Road Studios, decided to pose for the cover of their new album on the street below.
The resulting photo became one of the world’s most iconic images.
Every year, millions of fans pose on Abbey Road’s zebra crossing in homage to the group, but locals are less impressed.
“Sometimes it is annoying to have all these people here. My son comes back and forth from school and, sometimes, I'm carrying groceries. If there's a huge crowd, it’s very difficult to walk through,” said one resident.
Fans often block traffic and tour buses often defy parking regulations, said Lindsey Hall, a member of the local Westminster council.
The council is now considering assigning a traffic warden, a so-called “lollipop lady”, who might make an awkward addition to the famously cool crossing.
